Are computers  necessary in your office? Do your workers need computers for the operations and normal functioning of your business? If you have a number of computers in your office, then chances are, they are all connected to a single network. And where there is a network concerned, there is also the need for servers. By definition, a server is actually the particular program that provides certain services to what is known as client software that is running on that same computer. The client software can also be running on other computers belonging to a single network. Whatever the framework might be here, it definitely makes sense to say that the server is essential in running the operations of businesses.

This is precisely why a network server rack is something any office should invest in. For this purpose, it is important to define the rack itself. The common rack is actually a 19-inch rack that is used in mounting or storing electronic modules. What happens here is the modules are positioned in racks or stacks in a cabinet that is 19 inches in width. The equipment stored inside this rack has different names, so to speak. The equipment can be called a rack-mount, a rack mountable, a rack mounted system, or even, just a shelf. Subracks, in general, are known as pizza boxes. This is because the subrack is actually shaped much like a pizza box. Its size is also quite similar.

The 19-inch rack is actually commonly used in a lot of offices, no matter what trade or industry the company belongs to. With this common usage comes what has now become a standard arrangement for the rack as well. When equipment is installed, it would typically have a front panel height about1/32-inch less than the number of U’s

that has been allotted. If you would then have a 1U rackmount computer, it would not be 1.75-inches tall at all. Rather, it would be 1.729-inches tall. Of course, this is just a rough estimate, and your technician can do the math later on to be more specific. The existence of the gap here is not just for fashion purposes. This gap actually exists for a purpose. Imagine having to move a component of your server from one portion of your rack to another, without having that extra room. This would be very difficult to do, especially when there are other pieces of equipment inside that portion of the rack as well. Thus, this gap is indeed needed.

In the past, network server racks actually made use of tapped holes for mounting. However, this design was quickly replaced with that of the round-hole. Round-hole racks are actually more convenient to use because of the absence of possible binding. Now, this is indeed a significant improvement for the network server rack.

This design, however was also amended to give way to the square-hole rack. With this rack, bolts are no longer needed for mounting, which makes the endeavor all the more convenient. All you have to do with square-hole racks is just insert the equipment at hand and guide it right down to the square hole’s lip, thereby, locking it in place. Because of this feature, the removal of hardware and equipment is also made easier.

Of course, when deciding which particular network server rack to buy, the company’s needs should always be placed atop your list of priorities. If you do not really need that many pieces of equipment, then you can get a network server rack that is just of moderate size. But if your company needs a lot of pieces of equipment, then you should consider getting the bigger rack. This way, you can ensure enough protection for all components of your network server easily.
