Nintendo Gaming SystemFor some time Nintendo Gaming Systems didn’t seem to turn heads as how the PlayStation did. Now with the Wii, heads have turned.

The Wii: The Latest Of Nintendo Gaming Systems

Officially founded in 1889, Nintendo, as a company then, was responsible for the production of hanafuda cards. Somewhat very far off from what we know of Nintendo today. Making things going more further, in between its foundation year and today, small business entities were also “tried out” by Nintendo, examples of which would be that of a taxi company and a love hotel. Eventually, come 1975, Nintendo became a video game company and since then held the reputation of producing the best video game consoles, along with the best video games. Dominating the video game console market for years, Nintendo is known to be the oldest in the video game console manufacturing and development arena, providing Nintendo games with fun-filled games, enjoyable by one and all.

But as the history of Nintendo is, there stood to be a time when the world practically forgot about the video game company, giving in to a more colourful video game console. This would be Sony’s PlayStation, which grabbed the gaming world’s attention instantly.

Today, the latest of Nintendo Gaming Systems brings Nintendo back into the video game console arena, featuring its latest video game console: the Wii.

Welcome the Wii
Basically, the Wii is known to be the fifth video game console produced by Nintendo. Following after the Nintendo GameCube, the Wii stands strong in competing against other video game consoles out in the market today, like Sony’s PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360.

Small and simple in design, the Wii appears to be a “small” video game console. But appearances are deceiving with the Wii, as it is truly an impressive video game console, allowing for all sorts of fun filled games to take shape.

Its most frequently praised aspect would be its wireless controller system, allowing for wireless freedom. Along with its controller’s wireless-ness, the Wii Remote has the capability of detecting acceleration in three dimensions. Video games delving into tennis or table tennis games become more physical for Wii players, as variables like strength of a smash is defined by the player himself/herself. The Wii Remote also operates as a pointing device, making First Person Shooter games with the Wii more fun. With the various application areas of the Wii Remote, games of various genres are easily applicable.

As a veteran in the realm of video games, Nintendo also knows about a common trait among gamers, competition. As such, the Wii comes with Internet connectivity, allowing players to find their matches in game playing online. The Wii’s WiiConnect24 allows for the game console to receive updates and messages.

Form-wise, the Wii is one pretty looking video game console. Positioned either horizontally or vertically, its presence isn’t one which would make your home entertainment area look bad.  As already noted, the Wii is really small, measuring a two inch thickness, as it is also eight inches long and six inches wide. A stack of three DVD Cases are often used to illustrate how small the Wii video game console is.

In terms of connectivity, the Wii comes with Bluetooth support, as well as WiFi connectivity features. The game console also has two USB ports, with an optional LAN port accessible via USB, for those who prefer going online using cables. Supporting a composite of S-Video output, getting the right TV to go with the Wii isn’t impossible. The Wii is also backwards compatible with GameCube games, giving Wii users more options when it comes to game titles and genres.

But of all the featured features of the Wii, its price stands to be its main highlight, as the video game console is actually cheaper compared with the PlayStation 3. Along with simply fun-tastic games, the Wii is more than just a video game console. It is a shout out to the world that Nintendo is back in the world of video games.
